Second Airbus five-bladed H145 prototype performs maiden flight

The second new five-bladed H145 prototype took off for its maiden flight on the Airbus Helicopters site in Donauwörth.

Early August, a second five-bladed H145 prototype performed its maiden flight in Donauwörth, Germany. Airbus Helicopters’ new version of H145 already performed some altitude tests in the French Pyrenees during the summer of 2018. Besides, the first prototype is currently performing a high altitude test campaign in South America.

Airbus Helicopters’ second five-bladed H145 rotorcraft will be used for additional flight tests to achieve EASA certification in early 2020. The helicopter will be mainly used for autopilot testing, performance and airframe structural validation.

The new H145, unveiled at Heli-Expo this year in Atlanta, offers 150 kg of additional useful load.
