The An-132D turboprop transport, powered by Pratt & Whitney Canada PW150A engines, is a heavily upgraded version of the original An-32.
Among the new and derivative aircraft on show in Paris for the first time this year is the Antonov An-132D multi-purpose turboprop transport aircraft, a heavily upgraded version of the 40-year-old An-32. The aircraft made its first flight on 31st March, just two years after programme launch.
The An-132D will have a cruising speed of 500km/h and a maximum cruise altitude of 9,000m with a maximum payload of 9.2t. Antonov plans to develop a family of different purpose aircraft on the basis of the An-132. The cargo hold can be configured to carry 75 troops.
The aircraft features Pratt & Whitney Canada PW150A engines and six-blade Dowty propellers, along with Honeywell avionics and a Liebherr air management system.
The An-132 programme is being developed following a contract with a customer from the Saudi Arabia – reportedly the Royal Saudi Air Force – in close cooperation with King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) and the Тaqnia Aeronautics Company. Series production is planned to take place in Saudi Arabia.
