Major Flagship, DCI to create Malaysian helicopter training centre

Malaysia’s Major Flagship Sdn Bhd and Défence Conseil International (DCI) have entered into an agreement to develop and implement a Helicopter Training Academy in Malaysia to address both Malaysian and ASEAN requirements. DCI operates on behalf of the French Ministry of Defence to transfer French military know-how to the armed forces of other nations.

Helang Training Sdn Bhd — the joint venture formed by the two companies — will provide training for pilots and maintenance technicians using a mixed fleet of single and twin-engine helicopters. The JV aims to provide initial pilot training and specific mission training for Military and Government customers. Most of the instructors will be provided by DCI.

DCI already operates an international helicopter crew training centre, located within the French military helicopter pilot training schools at Dax and Luc-en-Provence. The centre was recently certified as an Approved Training Organization (ATO) in accordance with European standards by the French civil aviation authority (DGAC).
