India receives its first helicopters Apache

The Indian Air Force took delivery of the first batch of attack helicopters Apache.

On September 3, the Indian Ministry of Defense announced the Indian Air Force (IAF) took delivery of a first batch of AH-64E Apache Attack Helicopters. The eight first rotorcraft arrived at Air Force Station Pathankot.

IAF has signed a contract for a total of 22 Apache Attack Helicopters. The last batch is to be delivered by March 2020. These rotorcraft will modernize the Indian Air Force means by replacing  the aging Mi-35 fleet. The Apache will be able to conduct air to ground as well as air to air attack missions to support ground troops. The rotorcraft can be equipped with air to ground Hellfire missiles, 70 mm Hydra rockets and air to air Stinger missiles as well as 30 mm chain gun with 1200 rounds as part of area weapon sub system.

The AH-64Es will be deployed in the Western regions of India.
