CityJet signs with PowerJet for engine support

CityJet has signed a long-term engine support per hour (ESPH) agreement for the 31 PowerJet SaM146 engines powering its fleet of 15 Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ100) regional jets. Under the terms of this agreement, PowerJet will guarantee maintenance fees on a cost per flight-hour basis.

The Irish-based European regional airline, became PowerJet's first European customer in October 2015 when it selected the 98-seat SSJ100 powered by SaM146 engines for its fleet renewal and network development programme. CityJet's SSJ100s will replace its fleet of Avro RJ85 aircraft for operations across Europe, including to London City Airport.

CityJet took delivery of its first two SaM146-powered SSJ100 aircraft, out of the 15 ordered, on 1st June and 1st July, 2016.

PowerJet, founded in July 2004, is a joint venture of Safran Aircraft Engines (France) and NPO Saturn (Russia). The company manages the SaM146 engine programme, including development, production, marketing and sales, as well as customer support and MRO services. The SaM146 engine was selected by Sukhoi for the SSJ100 in April 2003.
