Airbus inaugurates Chinese Innovation Centre

Airbus has officially inaugurated its Innovation Centre in China at an office opening ceremony in Shenzhen.

Airbus has officially inaugurated its Innovation Centre in China at an office opening ceremony in Shenzhen.

Airbus China Innovation Centre (ACIC) — the company's first innovation centre in Asia and second worldwide after A3 in Silicon Valley — has been operating since early 2018 and currently focuses on designing, testing, and certifying new technologies relating to five areas: Hardware Lab, Cabin Experience, Connectivity, Manufacturing Innovation and Urban Air Mobility.

Airbus says the centre is committed to identifying the next big change to transform the aerospace sector while tapping into local talent and technology in cooperation with local partners.

At the ceremony, Airbus also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Shenzhen Municipal Commerce Bureau to exlplore Urban Air Mobility (UAM) solutions in Shenzhen. The two parties will cooperate on accelerating the R&D, application and industrialization of Urban Air Mobility (UAM) in Shenzhen.

With extended regional partnerships, Airbus aims to  further develop the local mobility ecosystem and promote UAM solutions aligned with local transportation needs.
