Cathay Pacific becomes easyJet Worldwide partner

Customers of the UK low cost carrier will be able to connect seamlessly between easyJet flights into London Gatwick Airport and onwards on Cathay Pacific flights, initially to Hong Kong.

In the latest addition to the Worldwide by easyJet network, customers of the UK low cost carrier will be able to connect seamlessly between easyJet flights across its European network flying into London Gatwick Airport and onwards on Cathay Pacific flights, initially between London Gatwick and Hong Kong once it is live on Worldwide in the coming weeks.

The Worldwide by easyJet concept seeks to tap into the market segment comprising the 70 million passengers travelling to airports served by easyJet who are catching connecting flights, mostly to long-haul destinations.

The concept was launched last year as the first-ever low-fares carrier connection service. EasyJet claims that its digital, virtual hub offers more simple and efficient connectivity than the interline and codeshare agreements adopted by legacy airlines.

This addition of Cathay Pacific compliments easyJet’s existing relationships with long haul carriers Emirates, Virgin Atlantic, Norwegian, WestJet and Singapore Airlines.

Worldwide by easyJet launched in September 2017 enabling customers to connect easyJet flights through London Gatwick to long-haul flights, with launch airline partners WestJet and Norwegian.  The system now connects to a total of 11 airports across Europe.

Chicago is reported to be the most popular long-haul destination at the present time, connecting through Rome, while the Rome-Reykjavik connection is the most popular short-haul connection. To date, easyJet indicates that more than 5,000 unique origins and destinations have been booked in combination with partner airlines.
