This is the first time China Southern decides to benefit from Pratt & Whitney’s EngineWise services.

The agreement signed with the Chinese airline will cover engine maintenance for China Southern’s fleet of 24 Pratt & Whitney GTF powered Airbus A320neo aircraft.

As for Vietnam Airlines, the U.S. engine manufacturer will be in charge of the GTF engine maintenance for the airline's fleet of 20 Airbus A321neos — which first aircraft entered into service in late 2018.

Since entering into service in early 2016, the GTF engine has demonstrated its ability to reduce fuel burn by 16 percent, to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions by 50 percent compared to the regulatory standard, and to reduce the noise footprint by 75 percent.

EngineWise shows its attractiveness of the moment with this two contracts following China Eastern Airlines decision to select Pratt & Whitney's MRO service platform.
