Boeing and Xiamen Airlines have finalised an order for ten next-generation 737-800 aircraft worth $960m at list prices. Established in 1984 as a joint venture between the Civil Aviation Administration of China and a municipal government, Xiamen Airlines started commercial operations in 1985 with two 737-200s, serving three cities.

The all-Boeing airline has now expanded its fleet in service to 135 airplanes, including 17 737-700 aircraft, 108 737-800 aircraft, four 757-200 jets and six 787-8 Dreamliners.

In February, Boeing and Beijing-based Okay Airways announced a commitment for 12 737s, including eight MAX 8s, three 737 MAX 9s and one next-generation 737-900ER (extended range) aircraft. The deal was valued at $1.3bn at current list prices.
