Primera Air launches transatlantic flights
Denmark/Latvia-based Primera Air is launching new “low fare” routes from Paris, London and Birmingham to New York and Boston, starting in April 2018.
Primera Air has announced the opening of three new bases in Europe: London (Stansted, STN), Paris (Charles de Gaulle, CDG) and Birmingham, UK (BHX) with services to New York (Newark/Liberty, EWR airport) and Boston Logan (BOS airport) beginning in April 2018. The new routes will be operated with A321neo aircraft which the company plans to lease starting next year.
The airline, which is based in Denmark and Latvia, says it will announce two more transatlantic routes from the new bases by the end of summer 2017.
The new aircraft has two classes of cabin: full-service Premium and low-fare Economy. All passengers will have access to Wi-Fi and the option to charge their devices on board.
Andri M. Ingolfsson, President and Chairman of Primera Air, says the service concept “merges low fares and high quality — perfect for both business and leisure travellers.”
Flights to the U.S. will commence in April 2018 and will be offered year-round. Primera Air will offer daily flights to New York and four weekly flights to Boston from all three bases. Tickets have been on sale since 20th July.
Over the next two years, Primera Air plans to increase its presence at its existing bases and continue to open new ones, extending its network thanks to its existing all-Boeing fleet and new Boeing 737 MAX 9s on order. The airline announced an order for eight 737 MAX 9s in May. The agreement also includes purchase rights for four additional 737 MAX 9s and a lease agreement for eight more aircraft from Air Lease Corporation.
Primera Air is part of the Primera Travel Group, which runs travel agencies and tour operating companies in Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Iceland and Estonia.
