MAKS 2019: Sukhoi and Comac introduce a nose mockup of the CR929

During the 2019 edition of the MAKS Air Show, a model of the future CR929’s nose was exhibited.

After a first collaboration with Thales and Safran regarding the SuperJet 1000 manufactured a hundred and fifty copies, Sukhoi which partnered this time with Comac introduced a full-size model of its CR929.

Split in several versions ranging from 281 to 440 passengers, the CR929 essentially targets the Chinese market segment of the Airbus A350 and Boeing’s Dreamliner. The company CRAIC created for this purpose, estimates the global market to 900 aircraft.  Even though a special effort was made for the cockpit after having collected the wishes of a panel of pilots, the main competitive advantages for CRAIC correspond to the dry weigh and the consumption of the aircraft.

Indeed, Irkut was entrusted to build over 50% of the aircraft (wings and cells) in composite material. The assembly of the first copy should be completed in 2025.
