Leonardo delivers 1,500th ATR fuselage

Leonardo delivered the 1,500th fuselage for an ATR regional turboprop on 6th June.

Leonardo has completed the milestone delivery of the 1,500th fuselage to the ATR consortium. The handover ceremony took place on 6th June at Leonardo’s facility in Pomigliano D’Arco (Naples).

All ATR fuselages, complete with equipment and systems, are built at the Pomigliano d'Arco site. Composite tail surfaces are produced in Foggia, while main structural components for the fuselage are made at Nola.

Leonardo has doubled ATR fuselage production rates over the past 10 years as ATR has raised output to match increasing market demand. ATR regional turboprops are currently in service with 200 airlines in almost 100 countries.

The 1,500th ATR fuselage will leave the Pomigliano D’Arco production line shortly to be shipped to Toulouse, headquarters of the Italian-French ATR consortium. The aircraft appears to be the ATR 72-600 recently ordered by Japan Air Commuter, whose management attended the delivery ceremony.

The Franco-Italian turboprop boasts almost 1,700 orders and over 1,400 aircraft delivered to date.
