JAL confirms Airbus A350-900 plans

The Japanese carrier will start operating the Airbus A350-900 on 1st September from Tokyo Haneda to Fukuoka.

JAL Group (JAL) has confirmed that the carrier's Airbus A350-900 aircraft will launch on 1st September 2019 from Tokyo Haneda to Fukuoka airport. Flight JAL 317 is scheduled to depart from Haneda at 12:10, arriving in Fukuoka at 14:00. Services will gradually expand to Sapporo, Okinawa and Osaka routes.

The aircraft cabin in the domestic configuration will feature a 369-seat layout in three classes: First Class (12 seats), Class J (94 seats) and Economy Class (263 seats).

All classes will feature a redesigned cabin interior and seating. Personal monitors will be installed in all seats with a wide range of inflight entertainment options, including the ability to view the outside of the aircraft through a built-in exterior camera.

All seats will be fitted with a power outlet and USB port. JAL inflight Wi-Fi service will be available.

The first three aircraft will feature a special “Airbus A350” livery: red for the first aircraft (JA01XJ, see photo), silver for the second (JA02XJ) and green for the third (JA03XJ). Red is intended to symbolise “challenge”, silver “innovation” and green “eco”.

JAL placed an order for 31 A350 XWBs (18 A350-900s and 13 A350-1000s) in 2013 — its first-ever order for Airbus aircraft.
