Iran Air receives first four ATR 72-600s
The Iranian flag carrier has received its first four ATR 72-600s out of a firm contract for 20 aircraft, plus 20 options as part of a major fleet renewal programme.
Iran Air has taken delivery of its first four ATR 72-600s. The aircraft were handed over on 16th May. They landed in Tehran the following day, according to local media reports.
Earlier this year, ATR and Iran Air signed a firm contract for 20 ATR 72-600s and options for a further 20. The 20 firm aircraft are scheduled for delivery by the end of 2018.
The delivery of the aircraft is part of Iran Air’s major fleet renewal plan following the relief on international sanctions. It comes on the heels of the recent delivery of the airline’s first new Airbus A330-200 and the earlier handover of an A321, the first of an order for 100 Airbus aircraft (46 single-aisle and 54 wide-body jets) signed in December 2016.
The Iranian flag carrier also has an agreement with Boeing for 80 aircraft – 737 MAX 8s, 15 777-300ERs and 15 777-9s.
