First delivery of an Airbus A350-900 to China Southern Airlines

China Southern Airlines receives its first — out of twenty — A350-900s, completing an already wide Airbus fleet.

The Guangzhou-based carrier China Southern Airlines received the first — out of twenty — A350-900s. The twin-engine, long-range wide-body aircraft has a triple-class configuration of 314 seats, 28 of which being in business class, 24 in premium economy and 262 in economy.

The airline will initially operate on domestic routes from Guangzhou to Shanghai and Beijing, and then start to open its range of flights to international destinations.

China Southern Airlines is currently operating an Airbus fleet of 335 aircraft, including two hundred and eighty-two A320 Family aircraft, forty-eight A330 Family aircraft and five A380 aircraft.

To this day, A350 XWB firm orders from carriers in the Asia-Pacific region represent over a third of total sales for the type. This total amounting to 893 orders from 51 customers worldwide.
