Airbus and Emirates have reached an agreement to postpone deliveries of 12 A380s over the next two years. Six aircraft deliveries are being pushed back from 2017 to 2018 and six others from 2018 to 2019. The airline, which now operates only A380s and Boeing 777s, received 20 A380s in 2016.

The rescheduling comes in the wake of a separate agreement between Emirates and Rolls-Royce relating to unspecified issues with the Trent 900 engine that will power 50 of the airline’s A380s. Emirates took delivery of its first Trent-powered A380 in late December.

As of November 2016, Airbus had delivered 200 A380s out of a total of 319 firm orders since the programme was launched in 2000.

Airbus re-confirmed the target to deliver around 12 A380s per year from 2018 as announced earlier in July 2016.

Emirates is the largest operator of the A380, with firm orders for 142 aircraft, including two added in April 2016. As of November 2016, the airline’s fleet included 87 A380s.
