Embraer’s Praetor 500 gets its type certification

The Praetor 500 is granted its type certification by the ANAC. The aircraft already has some customers.

Embraer’s business jet Praetor 500 has been granted its Type Certificate by Brazil’s Civil Aviation Authority (ANAC). The certification was awarded during a ceremony at LABACE (Latin American Business Aviation Conference and Exhibition). To obtain it, the midsize business jet — which uses a full fly-by-wire system — achieved an intercontinental range of 3,340 nautical miles (6,186 km—NBAA IFR Reserves with four passengers), a high-speed cruise of 466 KTAS, a full-fuel payload of 1,600 lb (726 kg), a takeoff distance of 4,222 ft (1,287 m) and an unfactored landing distance of 2,086 ft (636 m). For a 1,000-nautical-mile mission, the takeoff distance is 2,842 ft (867 m).

With this certification, the Praetor 500 proves it is able to perform nonstop flights in North America, from Miami to Seattle, or Los Angeles to New York, or connect the west coast of North America to Europe and to South America, from Los Angeles to London or to São Paulo, with a single stop. Moreover, the Brazilian-made midsize jet is able to access challenging airports, such as Angra dos Reis and Jacarepaguá, in Brazil. To support each flight, Praetor 500’s pilots can rely on Collins Aerospace Pro Line Fusion technology.

The Praetor 500 features the Embraer DNA Design interior including six fully reclining club seats, with the possibility to convert four of them into two beds. The aircraft also provides a Upper Tech Panel that displays flight information and offers cabin management features also available on personal devices through Honeywell Ovation Select. About connectivity, it is available through Viasat’s Ka-band.

Michael Amalfitano, President & CEO, Embraer Executive Jets, says: “We are thrilled to announce that we already have orders for the Praetor 500, including in Brazil.”  The aircraft was first introduced at NBAA-BACE in October 2018.
