EgyptAir confirms order for Bombardier CS300

Following the Letter of Intent signed during the 2017 Dubai Air Show, Bombardier and EgyptAir have confirmed an order for 12 CS300 aircraft along with purchase rights for an additional 12 aircraft.

Bombardier Commercial Aircraft and EgyptAir Holding Company announced on 29th December that the two parties had executed a firm agreement for the sale and purchase of 12 CS300 aircraft along with purchase rights for an additional 12 CS300 aircraft.

The agreement confirms a Letter of Intent (LoI) signed during the 2017 Dubai Air Show. The aircraft on firm order have a list-price value of around $1.1bn.

It is the first confirmed order for the CSeries since the surprise announcement in October that Airbus was taking a majority stake in the programme. There have also been unconfirmed reports of a large pending order from a European customer.

The airline indicates that the CS300s will be put into service on domestic and regional routes, as well as serving several European and African destinations

The CS300 is the larger of the two models making up the Pratt & Whitney PW1500G-powered CSeries family. The aircraft seats around 145 passengers in a two-class configuration.

CS300s are already in service with SWISS, airBaltic and Korean Air, which took delivery of its first aircraft on 22nd December.
