DECENT, a non-profit foundation created in 2015, is officially announcing 3IPK – a decentralized application for the aviation industry. The aim is to use blockchain technology to resolve issues commonly encountered in the industry supply chain.

3IPK is a project dedicated to automating certification control, airworthiness, supply chain and maintenance processes for aerospace, automotive, defense and nuclear sectors, by developing blockchain-based digital solutions.

With DCore, DECENT’s proprietary open-source blockchain ecosystem, 3IPK aims to mitigate problems regarding the tracking, authentication and verification process across the supply chain. By using a feature called “Smart Dust” fingerprinting, 3IPK will secure real-time tracking, allowing producers to keep track of all parts moving through the supply chain, eliminating unnecessary costs and ensuring transparency and safety.

“Smart Dust” commonly refers to nodes of tiny disposable sensors that transmit information wirelessly with autonomous power to a central computer or a cloud.

The 3IPK system aims to ensure real-time traceability between approved certification data and actual parts, eliminating the risk of counterfeiting, e.g. by additive manufacturing.
