Airbus posts record deliveries in 2017

Following another “miraculous” December, Airbus Commercial Aircraft posted record deliveries of 718 aircraft, along with 1,109 net orders for the full year.

Following another “miraculous” December — which saw 127 deliveries and the finalisation of no less than 776 orders — Airbus Commercial Aircraft posted another set of impressive full-year figures.

Airbus deliveries in 2017 increased for the 15th year in a row, reaching a new record of 718 aircraft delivered to 85 customers. This compares with the previous record of 688 set in 2016.

The 2017 total comprises: 558 single-aisle A320s (including 181 A320neos), 67 A330s, 78 A350 XWBs and 15 A380s.

Airbus achieved 1,109 net orders from 44 customers during the year — representing a book-to-bill ratio of 1.5. At the end of 2017 Airbus’ overall backlog stood at 7,265 aircraft valued at slightly more than $1 trillion at list prices.

The company says it is on track to achieve a single-aisle production rate of 60 aircraft per month by mid-2019 from its four A320 Family plants in Hamburg, Tianjin, Mobile, and Toulouse. Meanwhile, production of the A350 XWB is set to reach 10 aircraft per month by the end of 2018.
