Airbus Helicopters H215 starts China demo tour
The Airbus Helicopters H215 has kicked off a two-week demonstration tour in China. Initial demo flights in Zhuhai will be followed by flights to Shenzhen and Lijiang.
The Airbus Helicopters H215 has kicked off a two-week demonstration tour in China. The first demo flights took place in Zhuhai on 3rd July.
The heavy twin helicopter will subsequently ferry flight to both Shenzhen and Lijiang. The H215 will cover more than 2,000km across China, showing its long-range capabilities, power, speed and useful payload.
The tour aims to highlight the H215’s multi-mission capabilities for firefighting, power line missions, law enforcement, and passenger transportation as well as its performance in high and hot conditions. Flight demonstrations will include the use of a Bambi Bucket to extinguish fires.
There are already around 40 Super Puma aircraft performing a wide range of missions in China, from oil & gas operations to aerial work to VIP transportation.
Airbus Helicopters claims to be the leader in the civil turbine market in China with a market share of about 40%. For the first time in 2016, China became Airbus Helicopters’ largest civil market in terms of annual bookings.
The company broke ground last month on its H135 Final Assembly Line (FAL) in Qingdao, becoming the first Western helicopter manufacturer to establish a FAL in the country.
