Air India receives final Boeing 787-8

Air India has taken delivery of its 27th and final Boeing 787-8, the last of an order placed in December 2005. The Indian carrier received its first 787-8 in September 2012.

Air India has taken delivery of its 27th Boeing 787-8, the last of an order placed in December 2005. The Indian carrier was an original member of the 787 Dreamliner launch group and took delivery of its first 787-8 in September 2012.

The aircraft is the 125th model purchased from Boeing to enter the Air India fleet. The carrier’s widebody fleet also includes 19 747s and 20 777-200LR/-300ERs. Yet to be delivered are the final three 777-300ERs from an order also placed in December 2005.

Air India also announced in April plans to lease six 787-9s.

The carrier operates the 787 Dreamliner to all its destinations in Europe and to other cities in the Gulf, Asia and Australia.

Its 787-8s are configured to carry 256 passengers in two classes: 18 in Business and 238 in Economy.
